At first sight, Castle Levan, overlooking the banks of the river Clyde, appears to be a romantic 16th century tower-house built on a typical Scottish L–plan; however, all is not how it seems, the present structure of Castle Levan started as a massive 14th century tower that was later extended in the 15th century by abutting an additional tower.
